Just remember. There is no such thing as a fake geek girl.
There are only fake geek boys.
Science fiction was invented by a woman.
Specifically a teenage girl. You know, someone who would be a part of the demographic that some of these boys are violently rejecting.
yo mary shelley wrote frankenstein in 1818 and isaac asimov was born in 1920 so you kinda get my point

Leila Zerrougui, UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict and UNICEF are working together to end the recruitment and use of children in government armed forces in conflict.
Thousands of children are used as soldiers in armed conflicts around the world. The effects are devastating. These children are commonly subject to abuse and most of them witness death, killing, and sexual violence.
These are children, not soldiers and they need your support.

The closure of BBC3 is to be proposed by the broadcaster’s director general, the Guardian understands, bringing the curtain down on the youth-oriented TV channel after 11 years.
Tony Hall is expected to announce later this month that he is axing the channel – which first aired programmes ranging from Gavin and Stacey to Hotter Than My Daughter – as part of a plan to save £100m a year. Read more
reblogging again because I really want people to care about this like
BBC THREE IS REALLY IMPORTANT
BBC Three gives so many young people a chance to break into the television industry which, speaking from experience on both sides, is REALLY FREAKING HARD!!
BBC Three caters to a very specific age bracket - 18-26 - which I think is why people have been so flippant about the plan to shut it down. People are quick to call it trashy TV because it’s not all serious or intellectual, but…that’s kind of the point?? BBC Three is a youth oriented channel, but the people criticising it aren’t youth.
But despite that, the channel does actually provide a lot of ‘intellectual’ content that’s relevant to us, or at least I think so. Documentaries about self image, sexuality and gender, disabilities, teenage parents, addiction and safe sex might not be intellectual enough for some people, but it’s very relevant to our generation, not to mention shows like The Revolution Will Be Televised.
Added to that, BBC Three is the home of Torchwood, Doctor Who Confidential, Being Human, Little Britain, Gavin and Stacey, Bad Education, Some Girls, Russell Howard’s Good News and so many more shows that are adored by so many of you!!
BBC Three is a voice for our generation - one that has the capability of actually making people listen - and it’s being taken away. And that’s actually pretty terrible.
It’s just four letters, but to Gus and Hazel, it’s forever.
I would like to be able to gently drift in and out of existence when I wanted to.

“Harry witnessed Professor McGonagall walking right past Peeves, who was determinedly loosening a crystal chandelier, and could have sworn he heard her tell the poltergeist out of the corner of her mouth, ‘It unscrews the other way.’”
I need this. On my car. On a tote bag. On my Laptop. On a shirt. On stickers so I can sticker bomb them EVERYWHERE.
